    Scratch Built/Handmade Miniatures

Starting with intensive research, visiting sites (grand houses/castles/museums and historical sites). Drawing knowledge from old plans/drawings and reference books. Photographing/sketching and measuring original pieces so that I can create from scratch my own works using my own designs whilst honoring and maintaining the skills and methods used by artisans through the centuries. Recreating and interpreting historical/period furnitures using mixed woods including antique discards, forest floor finds and salvaged stock. Extensive and onging research of texts and historical furniture/architectural plates. Makes include: Period Furniture, Dollhouses and Roomboxes, Museum Pieces, Standalones, Fantasy pieces/Objet d'Arts

Repurposed & Restored Antiques combined with 1:12 Scale Handmade Miniatures

Angelas projects often combine antique 1:1 Scale pieces with handmade/scratch built 1:12 Scale miniatures. She also pairs handmade wood pieces with sourced antique materials such as silver work/wood finials and ancient fabrics. Pieces often include Angelas own created tooled leather work and pressed tin/silver and metalwork. This nature of production guarantees each piece of work is a Unique One of a Kind Piece.

Repurposing vintage/antique finds to create one of a kind pieces

Combining vintage/antique finds repurposed with own silver/metal work and wood (sometimes wood vintage finds such as the old wood medicine balls used for my hot air balloons), finished with own decorative designs and finials. All made using hand tools and methods past down through the ages.

Using antique sourced as well as own original patterns/designs

Stencilled and transferred Patterns from original antique pieces are then hand painted/carved/decoupaged/pyrographied onto handmade unique designs. I also use own original designs/patterns backed by extensive research. You will often see several of my pieces with a favourite pattern that I have revisited or reused.

    Recyling/Repurposing at its best

Some of my pieces are completely handmade/scratch built, however I do love to dabble in recyling and repurposing. This example of one of my hot air balloons is almost completely made from repurposed/recycled items (Ball balloon was another of my antique medicine ball finds. Base is an old repurposed gravy/sauce boat found at a flea market. Chains are all old silver chains purchased in bulk as broken/short pieces). The wood used for the bed was taken from a very damaged walnut bowl and stand piece. I then created my own unique pieces by combining recycled/repurposed materials with my own additions such as artwork and finials. A wonderful way to breathe new life into otherwise discarded/wasted materials, recycling at its best.
